Anime Weekly Review: Summer 2015 (21.8.-27.8)

Summer season is nearing its hot phase.

Yet some anime still seem to drag and leisurely hop along without any clear direction. Despite some good stuff though, somehow I am missing that certain spark this season. Not even School-Live can give it to me as much as I enjoy the execution. At least One Piece is finally getting on with the present time action.

Joukamachi no Dandelion: Looks like almost everyone is finding a reason to take the election seriously now.

Gate: Rory rules! "A god has descended!", hah. ^_^ That woman clearly had no idea what she was getting into. Of course the whole thing was rather clichéd.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya Zwei Herz: More slice-of-life and I am with Kuro here... How long will you dance around Miyu's past?

Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX: For once I think Hibiki can be excused for doing stupid stuff. Kirika and Shirabe finally got to show some good stuff as well... Wait, Carol is back? I KNEW it was too easy... and too early.

Fairy Tail: I very much liked the flashback here as it actually revealed stuff we didn't know yet about the siblings. And now everyone is captured except for Lucy... The world is soooo doomed.

Rokka no Yuusha: That was clever, both of Adlet and the producers since for a moment we really thought it was Hans and as I said, I would be really disappointed in such a simple solution. Of course, he hasn't REALLY proved his innocence either it could all be part of the plan to sow further confusion. After all it's working splendidly so far since just by the presence of the seventh, everyone is at each other's throat. I really can't tell anymore... My idea that it could Goldov seems almost too dull now if his only issue is really jealousy. I somehow doubt it's the Princess – even if her behavior is somewhat suspicious. Chamot is just a kid with power issues... Which leaves Maura, whom we don't know anything about aside from her supposed reputation. What was that about it always being those the least suspicious?

One Piece: This was very emotional but we all know One Piece can do these things rather well for a Shounen anime. Looks like flashback time is over and we are finally getting back to concluding all these fights from which we probably have already forgotten three quarters of the details. ^_^

Go! Princess Precure: I really have no idea where they are going with this. The writing is a mess at this point with things happening almost without any warning, foreshadowing or proper pacing. While the idea of a villain actually smart enough to steal the Precure's transformation items and even using them for his own purposes is smart, it all happens too fast after so many episodes of almost no progress. I feel reminded of Doki's second half... and not in a good way.

Overlord: Well, a little better but the plot still drags. At this point I really can't see why so many people seem to like it. Momonga's badassness alone doesn't really cut it for me and I've seen far better in this category.

Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosai no Kyoukai: Another anime that drags on. With the exception of the opening sequence and small invasion we have barely gotten anything like a serious battle and the series is already way past the halfway point. Character development is nice and all but we are mostly past this yet and for a series with a typical setting to go on without any decent fights (especially seeing as the opener suggest a whole different angle), I wonder where this one wants to end up. It's starting to get a little dull after all... And the identity of the mystery assailant was just as obvious.

Kyoukai no Rinne: Kain continues to annoy me the most out of all the characters really. For someone who should actually be much smarter, he is surprisingly... stupid and stubbornly single-minded. Not quite on a Ryoga-level but at times it is reminiscent considering how he automatically always assumes the worst of Rinne.

Gakkou Garashi!: More interesting reveals. We are slowly moving to... something. Just what I am not sure but I frankly can't see how the excellent production so far would fail to bring about a satisfying conclusion.
