Anime Weekly Review: Summer 2015 (28.8.-3.9.)

This week at least a few of the anime got around to something more substantial.

The somewhat leisure pace with which a lot of them are approaching the final phase of the season is somewhat worrying. Many clearly have that vibe of "light novel promotion" where you throw in one season worth of a story which is in fact just a small fraction of it and then leave it at that, hoping to have won some more potential readers but leaving the viewers unsatisfied. Rokka is definitely such an example, Sky Wizard Academy as well. Especially the former would be a shame if it ends up with nothing but clearing the mystery.

Joukamachi no Dandelion: Akane goes super hero. It's probably a good thing that she doesn't get how everyone essentially knows it's her.

Gate: It's stuff like that why politics should be kept out of media unless you actually know what you are doing. Oh well, I suppose it is bearable for now.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya Zwei Herz: And after SIX out of (probably) TEN episodes in a magical girl show without any magical girl stuff, NOW we are finally getting to the action... Right, about time.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX: They all have rather s***y family relations I wanted to say but at least Tsubasa's turned out better in the end. I am still and always will be amazed of how much terms and pseudo knowledge Symphogear manages to throw into every episode without ever really explaining them further than a very superficial level. Clearly proper pacing was not meant for this anime... ^_^

Fairy Tail: We were left with Lucy alone which seemed to spell certain doom for the world and... My gosh, two episodes, with one breather in-between, of Lucy being USEFUL! The world really has to be ending. Seriously though, first Wendy and now this. This arc is rather full of tearjerker moments. I never imagined THAT would be the requirement to summon the Spirit King.

Rokka no Yuusha: So, Adlet's theory was shot to hell but he still got Flamie on his side. Prime suspect moves to Maura, though Naschetanya is still suspicious (I'd be sad though if it was her) and there is the wild card that is Goldov. Maura is really asking for it though considering how quickly she is getting worked up with Hans.

One Piece: This was one of these episodes again where practically nothing happens. I mean... Do they have to drag out every executive's name in Viola's narrative like this? It makes it very painfully obvious that they are just filling time. At least the last little bit was somewhat worth even watching this. ^_^

Go! Princess Precure: Well, at least the battle was nice but nothing all that much more. Not sure yet about the group attack. I have to see it a few more times to know if I like it or not.

Overlord: Finally something actually happened, even if it was just more demonstration of power but hey, at least this episode didn't drag. The pace is still rather slow...

Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosai no Kyoukai: I wonder... are we EVER going to see a tournament match? Seriously what's with teasering so much battle action in the opener and then barely delivering any, especially in a series like this where the rest often has little appeal?

Kyoukai no Rinne: Ageha is really quite the airhead. It's hard to really feel for the characters considering how little this anime takes itself serious. ^_^

Gakkou Gurashi!: A bit low-key this time and having a "pool episode" in this kind of setting is... awkward but still managed at a much better level than the average quality of most anime episodes. That final scene, of course, does not bode well for the girls.
